UAE Fuel Prices Decrease for September 2024

UAE Fuel Prices: It’s that time of the month when we find out exactly how much we’ll pay for petrol and diesel in the UAE. And it’s great news for motorists as UAE petrol will now be cheaper in September.

New Fuel Prices for September 2024:

The UAE federal government, via its petroleum firm Emarat, has announced the fuel prices for September 2024, with reductions across all categories. Here’s the breakdown:

• Super 98: The price has decreased from Dhs3.05 per liter in August to Dhs2.90 per liter in September.
• Special 95: Now priced at Dhs2.78 per litre, down from Dhs2.93 in August.
• E-Plus 91: Will now cost Dhs2.71 per liter, compared to Dhs2.86 per liter in August.
• Diesel: The price has been adjusted to Dhs2.78 per liter, down from Dhs2.95 in August.

These new rates will be effective on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

Impact on Transportation Costs:

As petrol prices have fluctuated, so too has the cost of transportation in Dubai, with the per-kilometer taxi rate now standing at Dhs2.14. With the national price of petrol now decreasing, there may be potential for taxi rates to follow suit.

Since August 2015, the UAE has revised petrol prices monthly in line with global rates. This system has led to fluctuating costs, reflecting changes in the global market.

Historical Highs and Recent Trends:

UAE petrol prices reached an all-time high in July 2022, with Super 98 costing Dhs4.63 per liter. In 2023, petrol prices peaked in October and declined over the following months. The summer of 2024 ended with a slight price increase, but September has brought a welcome reduction for consumers.
